My Son’s First Commercial Shoot!
Yesterday was the start of the principal photography of my son’s commercial. We left the house at around 7:30 am and made our way to the PNB Financial center, where the entire cast was to meet. I took the 45 minute drive in less than 30 minutes, and arrived just after 8. The cast were already there, waiting for us. I only parked the car and me and my son went aboard the company car to take us to the location in Commonwealth Ave. My son took the time to sleep as traffic was bad and the driver for reasons unknown decided to use EDSA. So you can imagine how long the trip would be, from Pasay city to Quezon city.
We arrived around 9:30 and I saw a nice green house with a blue roof. Wow! I thought, the house was obviously new, the paint barely dry. It has a big lawn and toys that was scattered on the drive way makes you think that your in the U.S. of A. We were greeted by the owner’s son and while waiting he and my son watched T.V.
The director a jovial woman names Sheila ( I forgot the last name) introduced herself and immediately begun setting up. During the set up she asked the cast to go to the make-up artist and have their faces polished up. Since my son was the only kid on the set they opted to have him made-up last
The crew started setting up cameras lights and everything. I worked in advertising before but only in the back room. I never had a chance to go to the field. I never thought that it took some time for the equipment to be set up.
During the set up after the director gave her instructions to the crew, she started giving instructions to the cast. I was actually hiding from my son during that time because he has the habit of running up to me every time the director gives him instructions. It worked my son was very cooperative during the whole shoot!
Well almost, during the last few scenes, my son obviously hungry, is becoming slightly cranky. Good thing the director used to working with kids, revised the script a little so that they can accommodate Joaqx. It turned out beautifully. And the rest went smoothly again. It took almost 3 hour to finish, but everyone was in a good mood as everything has gone well. I would have been faster if the rain hasn’t decided to pour. Fortunately they weren’t forced to pack up. When lunch arrived I was glad that my son took his time to eat, normally he’ll just take a few bites and scurried off again. But not this time! He ate every thing that I threw at him and asks for seconds! (Yehey!) We left the location after 1 pm and headed back to the PNB Financial center, we went up to his mom who worked there. After wards my son asked me to take him to his lolo (my dad) which I obliged. We spent the rest of the day there. Watching DVDs and playing. It was an exhausting day for my kid. But I knew he had fun. I wonder what’s the next commercial he’s going to work on? I’ll keep you posted.
