Kung Fu Panda
Everybody’s kung fu fighting………so says the song! I never thought that it will represent the movie quite literally. If you’re a big fan of kung fu movies then you should see this one. The movie literally personified known kung fu styles to their animal name sakes for instant the Crane technique is used by a character who happens to be a Crane. This movie belongs to the “Laugh-a-minute” category because there was never a dull moment, even the fight scenes which are quite violent turned funny because of the antics of the characters, specially the character of Jack Black. This is one movie you shouldn’t miss.
Happy Slip!
I work in a call center (hence the pseudonym). My shift starts at 6 am to 3 pm. Manila time. My wife works in a bank and her workday ends at 5 pm. We always go home together so there’s at least a 2 hour wait for me. So instead of going to a bar and wait for her there or wait in their lobby. I would just pass the time in my company’s pantry and go online and log onto Youtube and watch Christine Gambito’s “Happy Slip”!
Now for those who people living in caves Happy Slip is a one-woman show produced, directed and starring Christine.
She has a knack for impersonating her relatives in her shows. It never fails to put a smile on my face. Most episodes deals with her family and how they interact with one another. Her shows always perks me up and the time waiting for my wife passes by without notice. There are also video blogs form time to time to tell audiences her adventures. Gambito sings too and composes some of the material that featured in the show. Happy Slip a dominating force in Youtube. Proudly made by a Filipino.
Draw The Line!
Last Valentine’s day. My wife and I cozied up on bed and started to watch T.V. We tuned in QTV 11 and watch “Woman’s Desk” hosted by Rhea Santos. There was a case there that had hounded me everyday since February of this year. The case was about a young girl around 5 years old I think. This girl has been raped, beaten up and then put in a rice sack then hidden in an abandon building, the details are sketchy but it’s not important because that’s not what’s nagging me. What bothers me is the fact that the perpetrator was a minor. 14 years old I think. The real kicker is Philippine Laws are so obsolete that there’s no law in the Philippines that deals with crimes committed by minors. So therefore the bastard who committed the crime didn’t spent 1 minute in jail. I don’t even think if the cops arrested him. The boy was free to go. You could just imagine how the parents of the girl felt afterwards. If my child got raped and beaten, and no law would put him in jail. I’ll kill the guy myself. No remorse. I mean these are the kind of criminals that deserves to be castrated and hang! I really feel that the death penalty is not being used enough here in this country. Just look at the crime against woman and children here. Every week there’s news about raped on woman and children, and let’s not forget about domestic violence. I’m not really a death penalty advocate, but I support it if the crime warrants it. The law should be amended to deal with crimes committed by minors. In other countries minors that committed a crime can be tried as an adult if the gravity of the crime is high enough. In England two 10 year old boys Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were sentenced to 8 years in prison after murdering three year old James Patrick Bulger. In the U.S. Kip Kinkel a minor killed his parents and 2 others then maimed some people in his school was sentenced to 111 years in prison, he was detained in a youth correctional institution then transferred to prison when he reached 25. Now that’s justice! There should be a law here in the Philippines for these kinds of situation. Being a minor is not an excused for criminals to run free. What about the victims? We’re talking about pain and suffering here. Those poor children….
